That was my least favorite question when I was working in our sales department too. So many indie stores would call demanding to know “how we could give Amazon a better discount”. And the truth is that we’re not. There are laws in place to prevent that from happening. Unfortunately once we sell stock, we have no say in how they price the book. Amazon can function of a smaller margin so they discount heavier. They are also notorious for selling at a loss to gain market share & future buys. citymunkie, from this ask.
